This hand-painted noren is inspired by the creations of the famous mid-Edo period Japanese painter Ito Jakuchu. It depicts Jakuchi's painting of the Japanese sweet flag flower or shobu (菖蒲) in Japanese.
His work is currently held in several museums such as the Harvard Art Museum, Yale Art Museum, the Asian Museum of San Francisco, etc.
